2010-2011 Transportation Plan Highlights
• At its regularly scheduled meeting on May 31st, 2010, the Council of Commissioners adopted the 2010-11 Transportation Plan
The Plan includes:
a) Regular Busing
1. “Yellow" Zones : free busing for elementary students;
2. “Blue" Zones: free busing for Grades 7 to 11 students residing outside the 2.4 km of any other high school ;
3. "Green" Zones: free busing for Grades 7 and 8 students residing outside 2.4 km of any other high school ;
b) Courtesy and Accommodation Programs:
The fees are the same as 2009-2010 for all current “empty seat”, “busing for a fee” programs. The program created in 2008-09, offering the last few remaining “empty seats”, if any, to students attending magnet programs residing outside the designated transportation zones will continue. As detailed in the Plan, all students who are not bused as per the Board’s policy, can benefit from these programs and be bused for a fee if space is available on buses.
c) Busing to an Alternative address (es):
Parents wishing to have their child transported to/from an address other than their residence can do so for a fee of $ 125 at elementary level, $ 250 at the secondary level. The “alternative” address (es) must be within the established transportation zone (s) for the school.
d) STM allocations are set at $ 180 per school year.
- As a result of Major School Decisions, the transportation network was reorganized. St-John Fisher Campuses’ school hours were moved to an “earlier schedule”. No other major changes were made.
